STEPHEN KING TALKS TWILIGHT

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Author Stephen King recently spoke out on what he thought of Twilight, and what he has to say ain't pretty.

King said in an interview with USA Weekend, "Both [J.K.] Rowling and Stephanie Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good."

Ouch.

He goes on to explain the draw surrounding Meyer's series: "People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it's very clear that she's writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because it's not overtly sexual."

You just took the words right out of my mouth. This is why I love Stephen King. Someone who is an amazing writer, and isn't sfraid to tell it like it is. His contributions to Entertainment Weekly is always a hoot to read. I honestly thought Twilight was shit, and the movie was just as horrible. Bad acting, the pace was off and the action non-existant. I understand you're trying to cater to young girls, but if people want a mixture of hot vampires, suspense, good writing and a believable love story between a human girl and a vampire, might I suggest the True Blood books and television series instead.
