I got in pretty late last night, and the first thing I did was catch the Oscars on my DVR. Of course it was a bit long, but I honestly think it was the best Oscars I've seen in quite some time. Hugh Jackman was great as a host, and I loved that he brought a little Broadway to Hollywood. He bantered with the audience, razzled & dazzled, and showed that he was up there to have a good time. We all know how hard it is to please a bunch of A List stiffs. I loved his opening musical on a budget number, where he teased all the nominated films. Anne Hathaway proved why I loved her even more by being a good sport and participating in the number. Who knew she had a great set of pipes? I also was very moved by the screenwriter of Milk, Dustin Lance Black, who gave a heartwarming speech about acceptance and the legalization of gay marriage. I really hope that with Milk's multiple wins, there will be an opening of more quality gay films hitting the big screen. No more large gay gaps like when Brokeback Mountain came out. His speech almost brought me to tears. Congrats to Slumdog Millionaire who won a total of eight Oscars. I loved that the Academy showed that you don't need a Alist celebrity to carry a film to success. Slumdog Millionaire starred a kid from a tv show in the UK called "SKINS" and the film was adored by many. Brad Pitt's little film was nominated, and none of the actors walked away with a golden statue. Loved the musical is back performance with Zac Efron, vanessa Hudgens, Hugh Jackman and Beyonce, who I had no idea was even scheduled to perform.

Of course there were some awkward moments as well. Will SMith's flubbing of lines during his three nominee readings, Ben Stiller channeling Joaquin phoenix. Jessica Biel's odd Oscar gown choice, and and Alicia Keys's bad 99 cent crooked wig Check out the winners speeches and highlights below:
