Top Chef head honcho Tom Colicchio may be considered the "bad guy" when it comes time to axe one of the cheftestants during judge's table, but for now this restaurateur could be called a hero.
The reality-show judge saved fellow foodie Joan Nathan from choking to death during the "Art. Food. Hope." benefit in Washington, D.C. on Monday, according to the Internet Food Association. While being cornered by some bitter Top Chef fans who where less than thrilled about last week's elimination of Ariane, Colicchio heard a cry for help from another famed chef, Alice Waters, and immediately ran over to perform the Heimlich maneuver saving Nathan who had a chunk of chicken lodged in her wind pipe.
"I did what anyone else would have done and was just happy to be there," Colicchio told TVGuide.com. "I'm thrilled Joan's well."
Top Chef airs Wednesdays at 10 pm/ET on Bravo.
I have to actually agree with the fans that they shouldn't have eliminated Ariane last week. She got stuck with Hosea and Leah, who have a mutual attraction for one another, and all Araine looked like was a third wheel in their inner circle. You will get a bit more of that chemistry between those two on tonight's episode. Ariane wanted to wow the judges with a rack of lamb, but wasn't good at tying them with string. It was a team effort, and Hosea and Leah should have helped her. Instead they folded like bitches and threw her under the bus. Now she's been eliminated and fans and fellow Top Chef contestants are angry. The underdog who wowed the judges every week got sent home over some damn string. Who should have went home was Radhika. She didn't do much within the three hours they were given, and she didn't even fight for her life during the elimination round. It would have been great to see her make it to the end, but I guess now it's back to keeping things in order at her restaurant in New Jersey
