THE "L" WORD IS KILLING OFF A MAJOR CHARACTER IN PREMIERE EPISODE

Word on the street is that on Showtime's popular lesbian drama series The "L" Word, a major character will be killed off on the premiere of its sixth — and final — season.

The gods (and my prayers) have been answered because the victim is Jenny Schecter, played with such evil bitchiness by Mia Kirschner. Jenny, a would-be writer and accomplished two-timer, has long been embraced by fans as the character they most love to hate.

The episode, which airs January 18, begins with a splash as Jenny's body is discovered in a swimming pool. Accident, or murder — and whodunit? Viewers will have to wait for those answers.

Meanwhile, she won't be absent from the show: The remainder of the season is heavy with flashbacks of Jenny (played by Mia Kirshner) in the swim with her enemies and pals. If I remember correctly, the season ended with Jenny catching her lover in a compromising position with her best friend, the slutty Shane. I, for one am looking forward to the final season of The "L" Word. i actually liked the show more than Queer as Folk and Noah's Arc. Leave it to the lesbians to get the dramatic effect of homosexual and interfaced relationships correct without going overboard with the cheesiness. All is not lost with the series though. Word is that Leisha Haley's character Alice will be getting her own spin-off. hopefully ex-military on-again/off-again gorlfriend Tasha will be joining her on the new series as well as a few other familiar faces.
