ShockTillYouDrop.com is reporting that Inside helmers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo have parted ways with Dimension Films and Trancas International's proposed Halloween 2, leaving the door open to anyone. Word on the street is that Rob Zombie may return to direct a follow-up to his 2007 film, Halloween, which starred Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon Zombie, Tyler Mane, Scout Taylor Compton, Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris and William Forsythe. If he indeed takes on the sequel, it would probably mean Tyrannosaurus Rex is being pushed back as well as his untitled cd he's currently working on.
Producer Malek Akkad recently said that the Halloween sequel would begin pre-production in January with shooting to start sometime in March. Tyler Mane is expected to be back as Michael Meyers.
But questions remain: If this is true, has Zombie been at work on a story? Is a script complete? Will a script be complete by March? Where's his head at? We fans want to know.
I liked Zombie's take on Halloween. It took elements of the original and brought something completely different to the table. I only wish he would have fleshed out the Laurie, Annie and Linda characters more. I also wish that Michael's family weren't so white trash. It would have been scarier had he come from such a normal conservative family. If this story rings true, I cannot wait to see what he does with the sequel.
