AVALON'S REVIEW: ANDREW BURNETTE - MY LIFE OF VICE

For those who read the blog consistant;y, you all know I am open for new ideas and ways to keep the blog interesting for my fabulous readers. Well I want to start a new segment where I review music and films by artists who aren't necessarily in the mainstream. A buddy of mine Andrew Burnett hit me up on MySpace and I was beyond flattered when he said he was interested in sending me a copy of his brand new cd because he was interested in my opinion. Well last night when I got in from work I received my copy in the mail and here's my review of what I've taken in upon first listen. What I really was impressed with is Andrew, being an independent artist is serious about being a musician. The cd was professionably wrapped. There were lyrics to all the songs inside along with some amazing pictures, showing off his muscled body. Upon first look, you'd think I just bought the cd from the Virgin megastore.

Anyways, the self-proclaimed "whore of pleasure" sent me an early copy of his new cd, "My Life of Vice," and I must say in the time where so many are jobless, homeless, and manless, Andrew Burnett comes along and gives us listeners a dose of his orgasmic vocals laced over hot electro beats fit for our aural pleasure. The openly gay pop star gives it to us with both barrels with his sassy and sexually suggestive lyrics as well, which is how I like my gay pop music. You can definitely tell Andrew was having a blast cutting this cd together. Numb, while short and sweet has a Gary Numan vibe, while Here He Comes shows off Andrew's naughty playful side that would go over well on the dancefloor at The Eagle.

I only have two suggestions for the next cd. I would like to hear more dance beats in the Basement Jaxx/Kylie/Madonna realm with that Andrew Burnette flair for good measure. Also, I would like your natural vocals to be at the forefront more instead of the distorted effects that are cluttering many cd's as of late. "Cause for Concern" and "My Life of Vice" showcases that beautifully. Andrew has a great voice, so you don't have to settle like thin voiced singers like Rihanna and Britney. Otherwise, a great dance cd for the boys who like their men and man beats on the aggressive. If you like music from fellow out artists like Colton Ford and Ari Gold, Andrew Burnett's "My Life of Vice is the cd for you.

Standouts: Cause For Concern, My Life of Vice, Bet You Like It Like That, Sweet & Sour, Here he Comes

P.S. If there are any other artists out there who would like reviews of their upcoming projects, send me a message. i'd love to hear from you.
