ANOTHER SOAP IN TROUBLE?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn were axed from Days of Our Lives (after being on the show long before speech replaced sign language), it seems that Susan Lucci and the rest of the All My Children crew have taken a dramatic reduction in pay.

Soap audiences have abandoned ship, averaging only about 2.6 million viewers a day. At one point there were as many as 12 different soaps on the air, but that number has fallen to 8.

No word on how much of a pay cut Susan is taking, but I hope she's been saving her coin. With her All My Children money and hocking her shit on the QVC, Miss Honey's gonna be fine financially. Does that mean since soaps aren't doing well we will be seeing less explosions on General Hospital? Or maybe if daytime included gay love into their storylines instead of treating it like an after thought, they'd get more viewers. There's only so many pregnant by my best friend's man/switched at birth/possessed by the devil/back from the dead/memory loss story lines these soaps can do before fans look elsewhere.
