The Horde: The best Horror Concept Since From Dusk Til Dawn?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With all the horde (no pun intended) of zombie flicks out these days, I started to wonder could there possiby be life left in the zombie genre? Yes, This complaint sparked me to write a zombie script of my own. I had to admit, it wasn't easy. With a little research, and help from some friends, a concept finally sprung to mind. But to my amazement, leave it to the Europeans to get what American cinema has yet to get. Horror works best when there is a good concept, a plat, great action sequences, and characters we give a shit about. The French film The Horde has a compelling story going for it. I'm almost jealous I didn't come up with this idea first. According to sources at Slashfilm, “the story follows four corrupt police officers who raid an abandoned tower looking for a group of gangsters who killed one of their colleagues. But when a zombie outbreak hits, the policemen must unite with the gangsters in order to survive from the hordes of oncoming undead.”

We haven't seen B-movie action/horror hybrid genre films done like this since From Dusk Til Dawn, one of my favorite movies. The french have been doing the damn thing when it comes to good old fashioned gory horror. I don't know what's in the water over there, but with the success of Alexandre Aja's High Tension, Inside, and other rather disturbing fare, could it be a matter of time before we see the director of The Horde invading American soil?

So looking forward to seeing this film.
