According to law enforcement sources, things got violent around Atlanta’s Club Dream when patrons heard that members of the private security team were double charging people to get into the VIP area — where stars like Usher, Diddy and Nelly were partying.
Cops say pushing and shoving broke out, and as the masses were being thrown outside, that’s when a shot rang out. A security guard was treated for a shot in the arm, but has already been released from the hospital.
We’re told the ongoing investigation does not involve any of the celebrities … nor their entourages. So far no arrests have been made.
UPDATE #1: Several huge stars were sent running for their lives when a gunshot was fired at Jermaine Dupri’s afterparty in an Atlanta nightclub just a few hours ago, this according to a source inside the club.
UPDATE #2: TMZ has uncovered the real reason behind the shooting at Jermaine Dupri’s party last night, and it’s all about the velvet rope.
UPDATE # 3: Jermaine Dupri is speaking out about the shooting that took place at the party he hosted in Atlanta, saying, “I’m sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. I’m happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues.”
UPDATE # 4: According to sources, there was a huge “pop” and everyone (including Gabrielle Union, Nia Long,and Sanaa Lathan etc) ran for cover. One person told Necole that the “pop” was actually a speaker blowing out but after the “pop” sound went off, Diddy’s security rushed him out of the club and the whole club was surrounded by police cars.
This isn’t the first time Jermaine has been associated with a club brawl. Back in October 2007 his good friend and fellow rapper Da Brat was arrested for allegedly assaulting a waitress in a nightclub that Dupri owned.
Another incident in 1995 turned deadly when a close friend of Suge Knight was shot and killed following a party Dupri held in Atlanta.
