Since word leaked this morning about a possible fourth sequel to the hit horror franchise, all kinds of stories have spread through the blogosphere like a bad virus. IF magazine caught up to Jamie Kennedy who says he's been talking to someone inside the company about Scream 4.
"I don't know what's going to happen, but they have plans for a lot of things. You can see new faces that you wouldn’t expect and you can see old faces that you wouldn't believe. There's a way to bring a lot of things around."
He adds that the only way the company is going to reboot the franchise is if Wes Craven is involved. Yet whether Craven is keen to the idea or not is unknown.
There's also word that the studio, Bob, Harvey, and Kevin [Williamson] all want to do a 4th film but Neve [Campbell] herself is the holdout. They feel there is no franchise without her and that they will wait for her to come around.
I actually would like to see a Scream 4, but with an entirely new cast. I love Neve Campbell, but after her performance in Scream 3, it seemed as if she was pretty much done with the series. Truthfully, her career hasn't really recovered since the Scream films. In my opinion the whole point of the Scream franchise was to poke fun at horror movies and each sequel focused on the stereotypes and rules of a second sequel and trilogy. So hopefully with the fourth installment, they could come up with an interesting concept like an inside joke about resurrecting horror franchises, which Hollyweird has been doing as of late with the Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and A Nightmare on Elm Street franchises. Now if Jamie Kennedy winds up in Scream 4 (he did die in Scream 2 after all), I will Scream - literally!
