THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN Gets "Limited" Theatrical Release…

With so many date changes, it was only a matter of time before this happened. Shock Till You Drop is reporting exclusively that THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN will hit 100 theaters across the country on August 1st. The film based on Clive Barker's BOOKS OF BLOOD story and directed by Ryuhei Kitamura stars Bradley Cooper, Brooke Shields, Vinnie Jones and Leslie Bibb. The article says that this "fulfills Lionsgate's contractual obligation with production entity Lakeshore to give it some sort of theatrical run. The plan is to subsequently release Meat Train quickly down the line for a DVD release." Our guess is they just want to get it out on DVD by Halloween.

This is unfortunate, because I've been hearing many good things about this film and in my opinion this is the best film since Candyman worth having Clive Barker's stamp of approval on it. It goes to show how clueless studios are when it comes to promoting good horror. You'll see millions poured into some shiteous Prom Night remake, but let something good and terrifying come along, and they'll ignore it. Can't see a good thing even when it's right in front of you. I really hope other horror fans and bloggers spread the word on this film. We need to show these douchebag studio folk that good horror isn't dead.
