After CBS went and stupidly cancelled my favorite show Cane, Jimmy Smits has signed on to join the cast of Showtime's hit serial killer drama "Dexter," reports Variety.
Smits will star in ten of the 12 episodes greenlit for "Dexter's" third season. The show returns to the pay channel this fall.
The actor is set to play the ambitious assistant district attorney who comes from a high-profile and powerful Miami family.

So looking forward to seeing Jimmy Smits on the TV screen again. I'm still missing CANE but know that Jimmy will be an asset to this show. I'll be watching DEXTER!
I LIKE JIMMY SMITS A LOT AS AN ACTOR. HE'S DONE A LOT OF GREAT WORK IN THE TELEVISION REALM. IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT CBS DIDN'T PUT A LOT OF SUPPORT BEHIND CANE, WHICH WAS A VERY GOOD SHOW. IT'S GOOD THAT HE'S GOING TO BE ON DEXTER THIS UPCOMING SEASON. DEXTER IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS ON SHOWTIME RIGHT NOW.
