One of the hottest shows on Broadway, In The Heights took home the award for Best Musical at the Tony's last night.
I am sooooo happy about this!
Also big winners of the night, Patti LuPone won for Lead Actress in a Musical for her scenery-chewing turn in Gypsy.
And, August: Osage County took home the award for Best Play.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees last night. Also, Whoopi definitely did her thing on the hosting tip. As a big theater-goer, I'm really hoping with the success of In The Heights, that many more doors will open for more ethnically diverse shows to hit the stage, and less shows based on Disney movies. We really don't need a Wall E or Shrek musical or whatever they're cooking up from the Disney vault. This hss inspired me to create a play/musical of my own.
