Though the show is set in New York City, Ugly Betty is currently filmed entirely in Los Angeles.

TV Guide is reporting that the show's 'gettin' real' — Ugly Betty productions could be moving to New York by next season!
According to insiders, ABC execs see the East Coast move as both a way to cut costs ("It's generally cheaper to shoot in the city you're trying to portray") and give the show an authentic New York feel.
You can't fake NYC on some hollywood lot. They don't call it the fifth character (in Sex & the City) for nothing.
