INTRODUCING...TEYANA TAYLOR

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Pharrell Williams' new protege, and Star Trak Records artist, Teyana Taylor (who I like to call the new Kelis), is about to debut her album From A Planet Called Harlem. The 16-year-old Harlem New York native is used to the spotlight as she had her own episode of MTV's "Super Sweet 16" with her 80's themed b-day bash. She also got an endorsement from Jay-Z and Beyonce as she was in Jay's "Blue Magic" video and taught Beyonce the "Chicken Noodle Soup" which Beyonce used on her 2007 MTV VMA performance. Teyana said "That kind of love coming from Jay and Beyonce, was crazy. When he said, 'Yo, you're a superstar. I'll see you at the top,' I was humbled, like wow!"

From A Planet Called Harlem, which is a mixture of R&B, pop rock and rap, will feature production from Jazze Pha, Pharrell, Mad Scientist, Frost, Shondre and Hit Boy. "From the songs to the production -- the whole direction of the album is insane," said Teyana. "It's a story about having fun." The album will drop in May via Star Trak & Interscope Records.

Hopefully, Teyana will become a HUGE star (which will mostly be in Europe, since Americans are narrow-mindes when it comes to anything different), or have crickets thrown on her career like Kelis.
