HARD CANDY

I don't want to bore you guys with the usual cliche interview where I go through every Madonna cd ever created to compare to the current one, but upon listening to the entire Hard Candy cd (3 times in a row no less), I have to say this is the most energetic, fun, and naughtiest cd she has done in a long time. If you listen to the lyrics closely, Madonna is definitely bringing SexyBack, with the help of Timbaland, Danja, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell no less. the cd opens with "Candy Shop," one of the songs leaked a few months back before the Hard Candy cd was even finished. The biggest (and best) surprise was that "The Beat Goes On" was given a funkier, sexier make over. Everytime I hear that song, I feel like I'm at a back yard barbecue throwing my hands in the air like I just don'tr care.

What I love about the cd, is that all the skeptics were afraid she was going to go full on fake Hip Hop (like another chick who's name begins with an M), and abandon her dance roots. So not the case here. the minute the pulsating "Give It To Me" pumps through your speakers, you'll be wanting to hit the dance floor in no time. Out of all the producers she has worked with, I think Pharrell has captured the true essence of Madonna (old school Madonna that is). Sexy, playful, naughty Madonna. But not as vulger as she used to be. We got Britney for that now. The Tim and JT produced tracks seem like songs written for JT more than Madonna. On the single 4 Minutes, I understand she's supposed to be trading sexual jabs with her counterpart. Like a cougar preening on it's prey. The track I feel fails to capture the essence of Madonna. She's more like a passenger in the back seat instead of the one at the wheel.

Thank god we have other amazing tracks that give us the spunk we've been wanting from Madonna. After GI2M, Heartbeat keeps you working up a sweat on the dancefloor. this is definitely a cd you want to work out to, and pump in your jeep with the windows rolled down. Once this cd comes to a close, you'll be wondering who is the master and who is the slave.

Stand out tracks: Give It To Me, HeartBeat, Miles Away, She's Not Me, Incredible, The Beat Goes On, The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You

Weak tracks: 4 Minutes, Dance2Nite, Spanish Lesson
